Bruce Cohen is an academy award winning film producer and renowned philanthropist. He is also a contributor to the Huffington Post’s blog. He is an advocate for social justice, serving as the president of AFER, the American Foundation for Equal Rights. His work is impressive, and his efforts have been guided toward gaining equal protection for the LGBT community.
His nonprofit work through AFER has been largely focused on the issue of same-sex marriage. As part of his philanthropic agenda, he and his husband were first in line to be married by the mayor of Los Angeles as a same-sex couple. He also participated in Yale University’s “Philanthropy in Action” program which allotted $100,000 to nonprofit programs selected by the students. He is a partner with PEER to PEER, a program run by the Annenberg Foundation which assists nonprofits in the Los Angeles area.
